HOW TO SELL

SELLING YOUR MAGIC IS EASY

  • Listing on MagicAuction.com is FREE
  • Sellers do not pay any commission
  • Your Ad re-lists automatically if not sold
  • No items less than $50.00 will be listed

The purpose of the MagicAuction.com site is to make it easy for you to sell your magic. We do all the work to put your item(s) online for an international audience to see. All you do is provide us with the information we need to best sell your item(s). We provide an online form where you can enter your item information and even upload images of the item. We will take care of posting it to the website. There is no need for you keep track of auction start and closing times. We handle everything for you and your items are re-listed automatically until sold.

AS THE SELLER, YOU DO NOT PAY ANY COMMISSION ON THE SALE OF YOUR ITEMS.

Keep this in mind when you set the SELLER’S PRICE. The SELLER’S PRICE is the amount you will receive (less any bank fees) after the sale concludes.

We have found that items with clear and short descriptions of the effects, and lowest prices (of course), sell the fastest. Photos are mandatory, including detailed shots of damage and / or wear and tear.

For illusions, we also need to know if cases are included and if they are Fiber, ATA, or Wood crates.

We do not appraise collectable items and recommend that you determine the value of the items before listing them.


NOTES

  • Do Not Send Items to us. Items are shipped by you directly to the Buyer.
  • By listing your item(s), you are accepting our terms and conditions.

To best represent your item(s), we need the following information:

  • Category or type of magic
  • Item Name
  • Please provide a clear and detailed description. Sellers please remember, be specific in your descriptions, including all information about damage and wear and tear, with photos. It is the Seller’s responsibility to state the true condition of items to be sold. If an item is received in poor or worn condition and the item’s condition was not clearly stated in the listing, the Buyer may request to return the item.
  • Also state the condition of the items (see our chart)
  • The manufacturer’s name (if known)
  • The year it was made (if known)
  • Describe any items that are included such as crates, Fiber or ATA cases, hoops, costumes, curtains, chains, locks, etc.
  • Pictures are required
  • Tell us the original retail price (if known)
  • Define how much you want for your item(s). This is the Seller’s price, i.e., the amount that you will receive (less any transaction fees) after the Buyer accepts delivery of the item(s). Items that sell fastest are generally listed at 50% off the original retail price.
  • You do not pay our commission. We list your item(s) FREE. Our 20% commission is based on your Seller’s Price. The commission plus the Seller’s Price IS the Opening Bid on the website. That way neither the Buyer nor the Seller is surprised. Keep this in mind when calculating the Seller’s price.
  • Shipping costs are the responsibility of the Buyer unless otherwise stated by the Seller in the listing. Since many magicians travel a great deal, this allows us to service Buyers and Sellers in a timely fashion.
  • If, at any time, a Seller wishes to have their items removed from the auction, send us an email stating which items (and their lot numbers) are to be removed.
  • Our listings are exclusive, i.e., your items should NOT be for sale anywhere else.
  • Only original and authorized items will be listed. Knockoffs of original illusions, bootlegged videos, trying to pass off a counterfeit copy as an original, or selling any props that are not authorized by the originator or manufacturer, are not permitted at Magicauction.com. Sellers who continue submitting such items will be banned from listing on MagicAuction.com.
  • Do Not Ship items to us. Items will ship from you, direct to the Buyer.

Seller Notice

For Buyers making payments by credit card, wire transfer, or similar payment options, all charges will be absorbed by the Seller. Depending on the bank, there is usually a charge to send and/or receive a wire transfer. Also, PayPal fees are constantly changing. Therefore, it is your responsibility to check PayPal’s and/or the bank’s current fee structures.

Payment

We protect both the Buyer and Seller by using an escrow account. To cover both parties, the escrow account holds payments until the Buyer accepts receipt of the item(s). On the first business day of each week, MagicAuction.com processes payments for all transactions that were completed in the previous week. We send payments to Sellers on the business day following our processing of the transactions.

After following our listings instructions, we will do the rest.

Disputes and Returns

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you, the Seller, are clear and detailed in your description of the condition of your items, you will avoid a return. If an item is received by a Buyer in unsatisfactory condition, the Buyer will be put in contact with the Seller to settle the matter.

MagicAuction.com is not responsible for disputes between Buyers and Sellers. We will assist in facilitating communication between Buyer and Seller; however, we ARE NOT MEDIATORS. Also, DO NOT RETURN ANY ITEMS DIRECTLY TO MAGICAUCTION.COM!

Items that are not Returnable

Buyers please remember, all sales are “As Is” and “Buyer beware”. If you do not like the item, do not like the manufacturer's quality, or you made a mistake and bid on the wrong item, it does not qualify for a return. Keep in mind, however, that we would be happy to re-list the item and sell it to someone else who it may be perfect for.

Items that are returnable

Items that have been misrepresented in the description or damaged in shipment may be returnable. If this occurs, it is the responsibility of the Buyer to immediately notify MagicAuction.com that there is a problem. Keep in mind that once you notify MagicAuction.com that you received and accepted the shipment, we release the funds to the Seller. It is crucial that you examine the item(s) BEFORE YOU NOTIFY MAGICAUCTION.COM THAT YOU ACCEPT THE ITEM(S).

If you have an item that qualifies for return, as specified above:

  • Notify MagicAuction.com of the problem(s)
  • Attach pictures and detailed description of the problem(s)
  • We will put you in touch with the Seller so you can resolve the problem(s)
  • Both Buyer and Seller must notify MagicAuction.com of the resolution(s)
  • Remember to consider all shipping costs and bank fees when negotiating a resolution. MagicAuction.com cannot return monies used to cover shipping costs and/or bank fees.
  • We will not refund money until the item is received by the Seller. If the Seller receives it in the same condition that it was sent to the Buyer, the Buyer will receive a refund (less shipping and bank fees) from the MagicAuction.com escrow account.
  • It is up to the Buyer and Seller to negotiate refunding of all shipping costs
  • If the Buyer and Seller cannot come to a resolution within 10 days of notifying MagicAuction.com of the problem, they must contact MagicAuction.com. Each unresolved case will be handled on an individual basis.
  • Buyers and Sellers MUST FOLLOW THIS PROCESS! If the steps detailed above are not followed, MagicAuction.com will not guarantee the refund of ANY MONIES.

NON-REFUNDABLE FEES

Magicauction.com is not responsible for fees paid by Buyers or Sellers on cancelled transactions. Fees for sending and receiving payments are charged by Banks / PayPal and are deducted from the original amount before we receive the payment. Therefore, we do not have the fee to refund. On wire transfers or money orders, there is no way for us to refund the cost of fees charged.
